How to allow access to your webcam and microphone

To start recording online, you need to allow the software to access your screen, webcam, and microphone. If you have previously blocked access, you need to unblock it in your browser settings. Here's a quick guide to how to do it.

Choose your browser

Google Chrome

Step 1. Open the browser settings

Go to the Google Chrome settings. Go to the Privacy and Security section and open the Site Settings tab.

Step 2. Unblock access

Open the Camera section. In the Block field, you’ll see the Screen Capture webpage. Click on the trash can to unblock the screen recorder.

Do the same with your microphone. The Microphone section is right below the Camera section.

Step 3. Start new recording

Return to the Screen Capture web page. Set up the recording parameters and start recording.

The browser will request access to your microphone and webcam. Allow access and continue recording.

Mozilla Firefox

Step 1. Click on the share the screen icon

At the left end of the search bar, you’ll see the Share the Screen icon. Click on it. The settings tab will appear on your screen.

Step 2. Unblock Screen Capture

In the Permissions section, you’ll see that screen sharing is temporarily blocked. Hit the “x” to unblock it.

Step 3. Start new recording

Return to the Screen Capture web page. Set up the recording parameters and start recording. The browser will request access to your screen. Allow access and continue recording.

If you are recording the full screen, Firefox may ask you to allow extra access to the entire screen for recording. Allow this access via the System Preferences tab.

Microsoft Edge

Step 1. Go to the system settings

Open the Start menu on your computer and go to Settings. Now go to Privacy.

Step 2. Allow access

On the Privacy tab, you should see Camera and Microphone. On these tabs, you can choose which apps can have access to your webcam and mic. Switch on Microsoft Edge.

Step 3. Make your recording

Now go back to the Screen Capture web page and start a new recording.
