How to Screen Record Netflix on a PC, Mac, iOS, and Android

There’s now just one more step you need to do before you record TV shows or movies. You need to adjust the recording settings to ensure everything will function as you desire.

First, open the app. Next, click the Screen recording button. You’ll then be able to specify which part of the screen you want to record. Choose a portion or adjust the recording area to include the whole screen. Next, make sure the app will only record audio from the system audio. That’s represented by a little volume button on the toolbar. The other button, a microphone, will activate recording through your device’s microphone. That’s great for recording external audio, but unless you want to add your own commentary to your recorded TV show or movie, make sure it’s turned off! Do the same with the webcam icon – unless, of course, you want to record your live reaction to whatever it is you’re recording.

First, download and install Chrome if you haven’t already. Next, open the browser. Before you go to Netflix, navigate to the browser settings. You can do this by clicking on the icon with three vertical dots in the upper-right corner. That will open a drop-down menu. Click on the Settings option. This will open a new tab with the Chrome settings menu. There, click on the System button. Once you’ve clicked this button, you should see three options. The relevant option for you is Use hardware acceleration when available. You want to turn this off. Do this by clicking the switch next to the label. When turned off, it should look gray, with the little circle on the left. If this setting is left on, you cannot screen record Netflix without it going black.

Once you’ve turned hardware acceleration off, you need to restart Chrome. To do that, click the Relaunch button right next to the switch you just turned off. Clicking that button will cause Chrome to quit and then relaunch, after which hardware acceleration will be disabled.

First, open the Netflix website in your browser and log into your account or sign up. Find the TV show or movie you want to record. To start recording, go to Movavi Screen Recorder and when you’re ready, click the REC button to start recording.

You’ll get the best results if you record while playing your video in full-screen mode. That way, the recorded footage will be of higher quality.

Remember, if you need to take a break at any point, you can pause and later restart the screen recording. To finish recording, hit the Stop button.

Your recorded video will probably have some extra footage at the start and the end. If you're not picky, you can leave all this in, but it’s easy to remove. Movavi Screen Recorder has a built-in tool that lets you trim your recorded footage.

Finally, click the Export button, specify the settings, and hit Save.

You’ll see the following options:

• The Microphone option enables the recording of external audio. 
• The Sound option allows the recording of internal audio. 
• The Webcam option enables recording footage from your device’s webcam. 

You should enable the Sound option, as disabling it will mean your recording won’t have any audio from the TV show or movie you want to save. Ensure that both the Microphone and Webcam options are disabled. Leaving the Microphone option enabled could mean ruining the audio of your recording with any sounds that occur near your device. Leaving the Webcam option on means you might be recorded as well as the film you’re watching.

Once you’ve adjusted the options to your liking, all you have to do is click the Start Recording button. Screen Capture will then begin recording your screen. From this point, the instructions are the same as above. Go to Netflix, select the media you want to record, and play it on full screen. When it’s finished, return to Screen Capture and stop the recording.

Once you’ve added the extension to your Chrome browser, you’ll want to pin it. To do that, click on the little puzzle piece icon on the right side of your Chrome toolbar. That will bring up a list of your extensions. One of them should be Movavi Screen Recorder for Chrome. Next to the extension name is a pushpin icon, which, when hovered over, will read Pin extension. Click that, and an icon for the screen recorder will appear on your Chrome toolbar. You’ll now be able to record your screen at any time simply by clicking that icon.

Once you’ve logged into Netflix and selected what you want to record, click the Movavi Screen Recorder for Chrome icon in the Chrome toolbar. That will bring up a few options. You can choose to record the current tab or your entire computer screen. Either will work for recording Netflix. You can also select whether you want to record browser audio and webcam footage. You’ll want to enable browser audio and turn off webcam footage.

You can now hit Start Recording and start your Netflix video. When finished, end the recording and download it to your computer. It will automatically save as an MP4. There will be a watermark on your recording, which you can remove by paying for a subscription.

Access the screen-recording tool by swiping up from the bottom of the screen or down from the top-right corner, depending on your specific model. The screen-recording icon is a small circle with a ring surrounding it.

Once you click the icon, you’ll have three seconds until your phone begins recording the screen. Go to Netflix and record your video. When done, swipe and click the same button again to stop the recording. If you have a newer model of iPhone, you can also click the red icon in the top-left corner of your screen to stop the recording. Now you know how to record Netflix on your iPhone!

After the app is downloaded, open it. Recording is easy. All you have to do is tap the Recording option, then hit START NOW. The app will begin recording your screen. Hit Stop to finish recording and make edits if needed.
